2026 Independence Day Events - 250th Anniversary

This July 4th, 2026, our nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The date marks a historic milestone and offers an opportunity to pause and reflect upon our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead at the future we hope to build for the future generations. We are proud to join communities all over the nation to celebrate this once-in-a-generation historic moment, and as we approach the date, we are preparing for a safe and enjoyable fireworks event supported by coordinated traffic and public safety measures.

The day’s celebrations will begin in the morning with a Parade through the center of Town.

PARADE: will start at 11:00 a.m. from the parking lot in the rear of the Starbucks building and travel northbound on River Rd, Old Ridgefield Rd, and Hubbard Rd, before turning into the Wilton Town Green, where a reading of the Declaration of Independence will take place. The section of Old Ridgefield Road adjacent to the Town Green will remain closed until the conclusion of the ceremonies, which are expected to end between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Motorists may bypass the closure by using Godfrey Pl and Hubbard Rd.

FIREWORKS: The Wilton High School Sports Complex will host the evening’s activities, which include music and the cherished fireworks display. An integral part of the celebration, the fireworks are scheduled to start at dusk.
Parking lots will open at 5:00 p.m., and Route 7 will close to non-passholders at 7 p.m. The fireworks display is expected to start around 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. After the show, all lots will be directed along predetermined exit routes, and pedestrian pick up will occur only at Allens Field.

Please, note that sparklers, fireworks, and propane containers are prohibited, and officers will enforce all safety rules. Juveniles possessing alcohol or illegal substances will be banned from the event and charged as appropriate. We appreciate the cooperation of residents, visitors, and event staff working together to ensure a smooth, enjoyable evening for all. Attendees are asked to follow traffic directions, respect restrictions, and review the full parking and routing details linked here before arriving.

High temperatures are forecast for the day. We encourage everyone to bring plenty of water and take precautions to stay cool and safe in the heat. We also kindly ask that pets be left at home.
Finally, always drive slowly and exercise caution. Follow directions and stay alert to pedestrian traffic and Wilton Police officers / Wilton CERT staff who will be directing traffic.
We wish everybody a safe and joyful Fourth of July 2026!
